Mission
Currently, black attorneys make up approximately 5% of the total population of attorneys in the U.S., despite black citizens accounting for roughly 32% of all incarcerations. The purpose of the G.A.V.E.L. Society is to increase the percentage of black attorneys in the U.S. as a way of increasing black representation in the criminal justice system. This will be conducted through the articulation and promotion of the educational, professional, political, and social needs and goals of black pre-law students at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Further, the pillars of Growth, Advocacy, Voice, Empowerment, and Leadership, and a service-first mindset will lead all ventures to achieve the purpose of this organization.
How to Join
Dues are $7, paid once, and cover membership for the entire year. Once prospective members pay their dues, they will be added to our members-only email list, which includes exclusive benefits such as discounts on LSAT prep through Kaplan, 7Sage, LSAT Demon, and more!
