Event Time and Date
Join the Reading Hour program in Giles County as a Reading Hour Mentor! As a Reading Hour Mentor, you will be partnered with a 3-4 year old child in a preschool classroom in Giles County. You will read aloud to the same child each Friday of the spring 2017 academic semester. Reading aloud to children during their first five years of life is an important part of their brain development. As a Reading Hour Mentor you will help the child improve vocabulary, listening skills, self-esteem, and their love of reading. You will receive training and support from the Reading Hour team as well as the child center's staff.
Volunteers will depart campus on Fridays at 8:30a.m. and return by 12p.m., transportation is provided. Becoming a Reading Hour Mentor is a weekly commitment starting Friday, January 27, and lasting until Friday, May 5.
